On Friday the 10th of January my husband and I were sitting next to each other, and across from us at our dinning room table was Nick Will from the Oneida Daily Dispatch. We were contacted about putting our story in the paper. I was nervous and excited at the same time. This was a time to get our story out there and to make people aware of infertility.
Through this journey I have realized that many couples are ashamed of their hard road to parenthood. I am part of a private group on Facebook for CNY Fertility Support. When my husband and I started to talk about going public with our story, even the ladies on this group suggested against it. These were people going through the same thing, financially, emotionally, and spiritually and they still thought it was a bad decision to go public. I was told that this is "a private matter and should be kept between you and your husband", or "people will just be asking all these questions and it will make it harder on you".
I have to say that my husband and I feel the exact opposite. I feel relieved and that some stress of infertility has been lifted off our shoulders. We are open to any questions and some days just hearing that people are wondering about us, has put smiles on our faces that weren't there before. God has blessed us with being strong and giving us the courage to tell our story.
Today our story has hit the newspaper, and not just a small insert on page three. Our story is on the cover page of the Oneida Daily Dispatch. Even though this is our story, I want people to understand that this is 7.3 million other Americans story. 1 out of 8 couples experience infertility. I want everyone to know that you have no idea what someone that could be sitting right next to you is going through. A simple smile could give someone that little bit of hope after she just got her 43rd negative.

A Great Start to 2014
I am still so excited about all the support that Roger and I received yesterday. I would have not imagined that this was going to be the response. In just one day we reached 1% of our goal. This can happen, and I believe in it more now than ever before!
I am so thankful that Roger did not allow me to give up on our dreams of being parents, and to push ourselves to save and raise enough money to make our miracle baby happen.
Our goal is to raise and save enough money to begin our IVF treatment in June. This will be our 4 year anniversary, and a great gift to each other.
I want to post some links to help everyone better understand the costs and the procedures for IVF:

I am so thankful to God, our family, and our friends.
2014 could not have had a better start.
